Mini ep. 8: Resting Place

Resting Place

Featuring: The Doctor and Georgia, with:
Conner
Zac

The TARDIS lurched in the Time Winds as it hurtled along the Time Vortex. Inside the TARDIS console room, the TARDIS crew were being thrown around with huge force. Conner slipped down a large coral support and grabbed Zac, who was just about to hit the grilled floor.

“Is it always like this?” Zac bellowed.
“No!” Conner grinned, leaping forward to catch Georgia.

Abruptly, the thrashing stopped. Outside in space, the TARDIS drifted through a burst of colours. Then the TARDIS dematerialised. And materialised on a hill. Plush green grass seeped over the landscape, and magnificent trees sprouted out of the golden fields.

“Oh my God,” Georgia whispered breathlessly.
“It’s amazing!” Conner gasped.
“Worth the ride,” Zac commented.
“Come on!” the Doctor cried running down the hill.

The Doctor and Georgia clasped hands and ran through the golden barley field followed by Conner and Zac. They fell onto the floor laughing. Then something whooshed through the air over their heads.

“What was that, fireworks or something?” Georgia gasped in wonder.
“It was a shoal of orange fish,” the Doctor replied, smiling to himself.

Conner leapt up and pulled Georgia down to the river. They fell over and rolled down the hill. Zac leapt down after them, yanking the Doctor along by his arm. Georgia splashed Conner and the TARDIS crew had a water fight. Zac fell into the stream and was pulled out by the Doctor and Conner. He immediately dried off.

“This place is amazing!” Georgia cried.
“And I know what would make it even better!” the Doctor cried “meet me back on the hill in half an hour.”

He dashed off to the TARDIS. Conner flopped down onto the springy earth. Georgia points across the river.

“Look, it’s a forest!” Georgia cried leaping up.

The three friends noticed a row of stepping stones emerging from the river. Georgia leapt on them, across to the other side. Conner and Zac followed. After Zac stepped on each one they rose up from the water, revealing themselves to be turtles and spouted water out of their mouths.

“Flashy gits,” Conner muttered grinning.

Zac lead the way into the forest, which smelt of strawberries. Part way through they found a complex of buildings like skyscrapers. These buildings had been built strategically away from the beauty of the natural area, but close enough to see it without spoiling it. Whoever lived here were very clever, and understanding.

Conner’s watch bleeped.

“We’d better be getting back, we’ve got 5 minutes,” Conner said, leading his friends away from the buildings they hadn’t explored and back into the forest.

They arrived back at the TARDIS in good time. The sun was beginning to set, and was only half visible behind the majestic hill. The Doctor had found a picnic in room 3,604, and the four friends had a picnic on the side of the hill until midnight.

“I don’t ever want to leave,” Georgia grinned.

It was lucky that Zac, Georgia and Conner loved this planet, for little did they know what would occur. They could not predict the silver shooting stars, or the brilliant burst of bronze, or the approaching white light. That terrible white light, which would mean the end of something incredibly special. They did not see how impossible events could happen.

Or that this planet would be their final resting place.

The end.
