Episode 6: Spirits of the Past Part 1

“We’re uh… Leaving now,” the Doctor told Zac “you could come with us, as a present for saving our lives.”
“Yeah!” Georgia grinned.
“Great,” Conner said annoyed “let’s invite everyone. Why don’t we have the Slitheen on board the TARDIS too?”
“TARDIS?” Zac asked.
“Time and Relative Dimensions in Space,” Georgia informed.
“It means we can travel in Time and Space,” Conner said.

They walk in. Conner is sulking.

“But it’s,” Zac stammered “b…b…b…b…b…bigger on the inside!”
“No duh,” Conner said “God, this is gonna be a long trip.”
“Lighten up Con,” Georgia muttered “we’ll have fun with Zac.”
“And I know the perfect place!” the Doctor said, flicking several switches and pressing random buttons.
“I can’t wait,” Conner muttered under his breath.
“Except,” the Doctor mentioned “watch out for the Ghosts!”
“Ghosts?” Zac asked.
“That sounds more like it!” Conner smiled “I’ll get my coat!”

Title Sequence.

Conner and Zac are stood by the doors of the TARDIS.

“I suppose it’ll be alright,” Conner said “excited?”
“Yeah!” Zac grinned “what’s it like out there? In space?”
“Sort of like Star Wars,” Conner said.
“But with more danger,” Georgia smiled, joining them.
“God. You’re telling me,” Conner muttered.
“Huh?” Zac asked.
“Ignore him, he’s just grouchy seeing as he died,” Georgia grinned.
“Right. Do we always die?” Zac asked.
“No. We always save the world though,” Georgia grinned.
“Most worlds,” the Doctor said darkly “this is a tricky flight. I’m going to have to program the TARDIS to fly through the glamorphic parts of the Time Vortex. We might as well have some fun whilst we wait.”

The Doctor puts on some music. Conner, Zac and Georgia leap around the TARDIS console.

“Come on Doctor!” Georgia cried pulling him around the console.

The Doctor and Georgia dance around the TARDIS, with Zac clapping along to the music. Conner just watches, laughing uncontrollably. Later on, Zac is asleep on the TARDIS chair, next to Conner, and Georgia is sitting by Conner’s legs, leaning on the chair. The TARDIS console room is dark, so Zac and Conner can sleep.

“Doctor?” Georgia whispered.
“What?” the Doctor whispered back.
“Tell me some stories about your travels, or friends,” Georgia whispered pleadingly.

Conner wakes up.

“What’s going on?” Conner asked.
“The Doctor’s gonna tell me some stories!” Georgia whispered grinning in the darkness.

Conner shakes Zac awake so that he can listen too.

“Wha-s going on?” Zac asked, waking up.

Georgia laughs as Zac snorts.

“I’m going to tell you a story, that’s so frightening, you won’t be able to even look at the Ghosts where were going next,” the Doctor said menacingly.
“So we are going there? Soon?” Conner asked
“Yes, now listen closely…”

Later, after the terrifying story, Zac and Georgia jump as they hear a clatter. The Doctor grins to himself.

“You know,” the Doctor said “once I travelled with Oliver Twist. But he was ages ago. I haven’t seen him since he chose to stay on Caprilla.”
“He makes half of it up,” Conner warned Zac.
“No I don’t!” the Doctor protested “I once travelled with a Time Lady, Romana she was called.”
“Time Lady?” Zac asked.
“He’s a Time Lord, so there’s Time Ladies too, see?” Conner explained.
“One Time Lady, Mary Poppins,” the Doctor said “had a TARDIS that got stuck in the shape of a bag. She could fit everything in that! She used to fly around on an umbrella, until a Carrionite turned it into that coat stand.”

He points to the coat stand in the TARDIS.

“Is James Bond a Time Lord?” Conner asked “I mean, he has loads of faces! And companions, in a loved-up way.”
“Always blowing things out of proportion that one!” the Doctor muttered, speaking about Conner.
“Humph!”
“I tell you what though. Mary Poppins, during the Time War, used to entertain the troops with her songs! Brilliant!” the Doctor grinned.
“She could make a song and dance about everything,” Georgia muttered.
“You knew her?” the Doctor asked serious faced “she was sweet. Until that Dalek blew her head off. Then she was a bit, well, headless.”

The others laugh. The Doctor does too, but there is a real sadness behind his eyes.

“Still, we’re here now!” the Doctor cried “Vesualas!”
“Is that like voila?” Conner asked grinning.
“Bonjour Monsieur,” the Doctor grinned back “ah, ne n’est pas correct!”
“Zut alors?!” Zac asked bemused.
“I imagine we’ll come to that part later, we usually do,” Georgia muttered.

The Doctor steps out of the TARDIS, and into the unknown… And quickly returns inside.

“Oh no,” the Doctor cried “no, that’s bad. We should turn around. They’ve gotten to it.”
“Who ‘av?” Georgia asked worriedly “gotten to what, the planet?”
“Doctor who are they?” Conner asked “who has? What’ve they done? Doctor! Who?”
“One of my greatest enemies,” the Doctor informed.
“The Daleks?” Conner asked “but you said-”
“The Cybermen?” Georgia asked “you’ve said about them before.”
“Not either of them,” the Doctor replied.
“It’s worse?” Zac asked, astounded.

The Doctor opens the double doors.

“It’s been Hollywood-ised.”

To be continued…
