Episode 7: Be Civil Part 2

The doctor and his friends ran and ran to find the place where the scream had come from. It wasn’t long before they found a crowd of people.
“What’s going on?” the doctor asked a soldier who shrugged.
“Hey you, what’s up?” Georgia asked a man who was approaching.
“They address me as sir”, Oliver Cromwell replied, “And you should not be speaking tend to the washing, not to rumours”. Georgia was shocked and gaped. Meanwhile all the men had saluted Oliver Cromwell and ran off except Captain Placard who had ordered Oliver Cromwell to see.
“What is it this time Captain Placard?” Oliver Cromwell asked.
“Well sir it’s inside the tent Sir”, Captain Placard replied pointing to the tent.

This tent was small but it had a couple of beds and on one of the beds was a man covered in green puss filled spots. Surrounding him were Private Williams, Miss Williams and several other Privates. When Cromwell walked in they all saluted him.
“You girl, tend to the washing off you go, as for the rest of you don’t touch him”, Cromwell ordered. Miss Williams now shared the same expression as Georgia. Placard stared into Miss Williams’ eyes as she exited the tent.
“It’s the green plague”, Captain Placard. The doctor entered the tent and put on his glasses.
“Ooo he doesn’t look to good does he?” the doctor said. Cromwell and Captain Placard turned round.
“Who are you?” Cromwell asked, “And what are you doing here?”
“Don’t worry I’m Parliamentarian”, the doctor said, “sort of. Oh and I’m the doctor not Commander Marr of the 21st battalion of magnet town warriors”.
“Who’s that?” Captain Placard asked.
“Err no-one”, the doctor said, “Anyway, that plague I have ever seen before”.
“What and you’re a doctor?” Oliver Cromwell asked.
“Wait, are you Oliver Cromwell”, the doctor asked.
“Yes I am”, Oliver Cromwell replied.
“But that’s brilliant”, the doctor said smiling happily, “I’m here to see you”.
“What about?” Cromwell asked the doctor suspiciously.
“This green plague”, the doctor replied, “I’ve never seen anything like it”.
“But who told you about the plague”, Cromwell asked, “We’ve been trying to keep it a secret”.
“I know things before they happen”, the doctor answered creepily. Just then Zac ran into the tent.

“Doctor you should come and see there’s this man and-…” Zac began but stopped and immediately said, “Oliver Cromwell wowww!”
“Hello and what have you found”, the doctor asked. Conner entered the tent too.
“Oh this man, he’s talking to Georgia at the moment”, Zac replied, “This man saw another man, but it wasn’t a man. It was wearing a mask”.
“The man under the mask”, Conner said.
“Placard you stay here with Jeroke”, Cromwell ordered and left the tent. Captain Placard saluted him along with the other privates.

Zac lead the doctor and Cromwell past around 10 tents to find a man sitting on a barrel looking scared. It was Sergeant Jones Georgia was sitting next to him.
“Are you Ok?” the doctor asked Jones.
“You girl I thought I asked you to go clean up”, Cromwell asked Georgia.
“Oy I’m no cleaning lady, you got that”, Georgia said aloud. The doctor stared at her and Cromwell seemed to fill with anger, the doctor seemed to notice this and tried to change the subject.

“Anyway, my friends said you thought you saw a man who wasn’t a man”, the doctor asked Jones.
“Yes it was his hands, they were green”, Sergeant Jones said.
“Green? Does he mean there was a man who had the green plague”, Cromwell asked.
“No Sir, it was his face that really scared me”, Sergeant Jones said, “His eyes didn’t move, his face didn’t move, no expression, like he was wearing a mask”.
“Yeah Conner said that”, the doctor said, “Where did he go?”
“Towards the hill, but the other one I saw running in the opposite direction”, Sergeant Jones answered.
“Excuse me? What other one?” Cromwell asked.
“There must have been two, Sir”, Jones replied, “Oh and another thing, they were dressed as Royalists”.
“Royalists, what were they doing here”, Cromwell asked.
“He said dressed like royalists”, the doctor said, “They were disguised as royalists, but what were they doing”.
“I saw one of them come out of a tent down there”, Jones said pointing at Private Jeroke’s tent.
“Private Jeroke’s tent are you sure”, the doctor asked.
“Certain”, Jones replied.

“Well, Conner can you go inspect the side of the hill, where that man, who isn’t a man went”, the doctor said.
“This is all confusing”, Georgia said as Conner walked off in the direction of the hill.
“Well you would find it confusing as you are a female”, Cromwell said rudely.
“How dare you!” Georgia blurted out.
“Now, both of you, be civil”, the doctor said.
“I will if he is”, Georgia snarled.

“Anyway, Zac and Cromwell, we can go in the direction of the other man”, the doctor suggested.
“But Doctor can’t I come”, Georgia asked.
“I don’t want anymore arguing, you can go and look after Jones”, the doctor replied.
“OK fine by me”, Georgia said smirking as the doctor walked off in the opposite direction to the hill.

“Doctor”, Zac said, “I’ve been racking my brain and I know that I have never heard of Tomson en Marchet”.
“Neither have I”, the doctor said, “It doesn’t exist now and if I’m right no-one ever speaks of the green plague either”.
“They did say about the diseases that went round though”, Zac said.
“What are you whispering for? As I am a commander of a huge army you can tell me exactly what you are saying”, Cromwell ordered expecting a response.
“Nothing”, the doctor said as they heard moaning noises nearby.

The doctor ran into the tent that the noises were coming from and saw 3 privates covered in the green spots. The doctor got out his sonic screwdriver.
“What is that device?” Cromwell asked.
“You’ve got to know everything haven’t you”, the doctor muttered, “This is a sonic screwdriver”.
“A what?” Cromwell asked.
“It isn’t important”, the doctor replied beginning to scan the victim.
“Doctor are you sure that’s safe?” Zac asked.
“Certainly, as long as I don’t touch them”, the doctor replied, Zac had heard a noise outside and went outside the tent.

Conner was walking along the side of the hill looking closely to the ground. Then he heard a noise behind him. Conner turned and ducked down behind a rock to see a man with a large hat and a feather. Conner realised that this was no parliamentarian soldier as it was wearing different clothes and armour. The man took out a silvery object and there was a blip of light. Conner leaned forward to see a large round shape hole appear in the side of the hill. The man walked inside and Conner followed him.

Inside the hill the man pointed the silvery object behind him and the door shut behind Conner who entered the hill. Conner looked around to see the man walk forward along a silver corridor. It was as if Conner had walked through a portal, like the ones in Vesualas. At the end of the corridor was another door which the man was opening when he turned and saw Conner.

Back in the tent the Doctor was examining the private’s spots using his screwdriver.
“This disease is not from around here”, the doctor explained, “It’s alien”.
“Foreign you mean?” Cromwell asked, “Did the French bring it over?”
“No it’s from up there”, the doctor said pointing up.
“The stars”, Cromwell said.
“Where’s Zac?” the doctor asked.
“Oh you mean the boy”, Cromwell said, “He went outside a few minutes ago”. The doctor left the tent leaving the men moaning. The doctor looked around but Zac was nowhere to be seen.

Conner meanwhile was trying to open the door outside as the man advanced on Conner.
“Let me go!” Conner shouted at the man.
“No! I have my orders”, the man said in a hiss. The mouth or any other parts of the face did not move as he spoke.
“Who are you?” Conner asked. In reply the man lifted his head to reveal a smooth green skinned monster. It had black eyes and slits for nostrils, it reminded Conner greatly of Lord Voldemort from Harry Potter.
“I am Rally of the Plague Carriers”, Rally hissed through pointed teeth, “And you are dead”. Rally advanced on Conner who winced.
