Episode 6: Spirits of the Past Part 4
The Statue of Liberty can be seen. Suddenly a green light flashes. Everyone walking around the Statue fall over unconscious. Conner turns while falling and faces the ground. Suddenly (again) a green light flashes. Conner is suspended in the air, in a tunnel of green light. He moves his head trying to look up.
“It’s OK I’ve got you,” a voice (with a slight foreign accent) said.
“How’s that OK?” Conner cried “can you see my position?”
“Very clearly. It’s alright; I’m programming your descent pattern. You have to on every Tractor Beam.”
“You’ve got a spaceship?” Conner asked, surprised.
“Now that would be telling,” the voice said with a tone of amusement.
“So you have,” Conner grinned “where are you from?”
“That I cannot tell you. We will meet again, but do not wish for that day, because I’m-” the voice said.
“Rescuing me.”
The Ghosts stop.
“There’s alien activity through one of the portals. They’re gonna check it out. Ha!” the Doctor cried.
The Doctor, Georgia and Zac cautiously follow the Ghosts. They reach a corridor when the Ghosts stop.
“Oooh.”
The Doctor and the others back into a room off of a corridor. There is a long row of mirrors along one wall.
“Some of the Ghosts are going after the power source. The rest want us,” the Doctor said, retreating.
“What for again?” Georgia asked following.
“Open a mirror, get inside,” the Doctor ordered.
Zac pulls away a mirror panel and climbs in. The Ghosts fly after them.
“Get in there!” Georgia screamed.
She screams as a Ghost passes through the Doctor. Zac and Georgia run through the empty spaces behind the mirrors. A Ghost passes through Georgia. She drops to the floor. Zac carries on. Georgia opens her eyes. She is lying on a many stoned floor and sits up.
“A castle?” Georgia asked surprised.
She stands up, and hears some screaming. She runs to an arched window and sees Ghosts floating around everywhere. People are running and screaming. Something bright draws her attention to the left of her. She looks at it.
“The portals are opening up all around. The two times are colliding. No wait, every time is colliding! The world’s changing because of us.”
She hears an explosion, and runs into the portal.
Meanwhile, the people of Tokyo are looking bemused as several hundred horse and carts appear in the streets.
In Georgian England, the residents of a posh country manor abandon their picnic to run around screaming at the appearance of a 21st Century car, being driven around by a confused driver.
A U.F.O. descends from the sky, and Victorian England comes under attack. Lasers, fire and death fill the streets.
“This is where the nearest portal is?” Conner asked, surprised “the roof of the Taj Mahal?”
“Cutbacks. Except now the Ghosts are getting stronger, forcing the portals across different times. It’s a mash up of the Time Lines!” the voice exclaimed.
“That must take up a load of power, where would they get their energy from?” Conner asked.
“People,” the voice said “they fly through people, absorbing their energy, mostly adrenaline. Do they have any Human prisoners or slaves? Or old leaders?”
“No,” Conner said, thinking “except… The celebrities. They’re canned energy.”
“But to start it this suddenly, they must have had an extra surge of power. Is there anything else?” the voice asked.
“No… Unless, the Doctor! He’s a lot of energy. And maybe Zac and Georgia too. Oh no… It’s my fault,” Conner gasped.
“The Doctor?” the voice asked “tell me about him.”
“He’s sort of like my brother, dad and best friend,” Conner said “all at the same time. He’s a huge mystery, but he always puts us first. He’s one of those promisers. You know… They make… Promises.”
“I see,” the voice said kindly “and he travels with you. D’you have any idea where you’re going next?”
“No,” Conner said “we go wherever the TARDIS takes us.”
“Right. I’d better leave you to save him. Keep your watch on at all times, it looks useful,” the voice advised.
“Thanks,” Conner said “bye!”
Conner runs and jumps off of the roof of the Taj Mahal, landing in the portal. The voice is a shadowy man sat inside his ship. He presses a button, and watches a red blip on a screen. Only Georgia’s face can be seen, and it looks scared. Only Zac and Conner’s faces can be seen too.
“Doctor! It’s all over the world!” Georgia cried.
“Move Pinky-Joe!” Zac cried “where’s the Doctor?”
“Doctor?” Conner asked.
A silver wisp floats in front of Conner’s face.
“Oh no. They’re here too. Doctor!” Conner cried.
Now the whole of their bodies can be seen. Georgia is surrounded by Ghosts. Zac is looking around.
“I’ve got a brilliant idea!” Zac cried.
Conner is looking at the floor, looking ashamed. The Doctor runs up to him.
“Hello!” the Doctor grinned “you’ve found your way back from the party then. Hey, what’s the matter? Sorry. It was probably very tiring at a party, doing so much dancing. You must be worn out!”
Conner doesn’t look up. The Doctor opens one of Conner’s eyes further. He then pulls his head up to look him in the eye. His mouth has gone.
“No, they can’t have. They’ve absorbed too much of your energy. You’re decaying. I have to stop it, to save you,” the Doctor said.
He grabs Conner’s hand and pulls him off down a corridor. The Ghosts draw closer to Georgia. Suddenly Zac, riding on Pinky-Joe, leaps in front of Georgia!
“D’you like my wheels?” Zac grinned.
“Groovy baby!” Georgia grinned back.
“Jump in my car,” Zac said “I wanna take you home.”
“Well maybe I will,” Georgia grinned.
“Ah! That’s better now, you’re talking sense,” Zac sang.
“But you’d best keep still,” Georgia laughed.
“You know what to do?” the Doctor asked Conner.
Conner nods.
“Write it down. Quick, this world is imploding from all of the energy! 5…” the Doctor said quickly.
Zac and Georgia ride along on Pinky-Joe.
“4…3…”
Conner scribbles furiously.
“2…”
Conner hands the Doctor the paper. He presses some buttons. Zac and Georgia arrive.
“1… It’s done. None of it ever happened in History,” the Doctor explained.
“Excellent,” Zac grinned “home in time for tea.”
“Doctor, was it worth it? Killing all those celebrities? I mean, it is a bit harsh. Even for them with their lifestyles,” Georgia asked.
“It saved many more lives in the long run. Now, how about tea with Jane Austen?” the Doctor asked.
The others laugh. Look at each other. ‘Who?’ the companions mouth at each other. They walk into the TARDIS. The Doctor plays Starman by David Bowie.
“It means you!” Georgia laughed.
“I know!” the Doctor replied.
Georgia grabs Conner and pulls him along into a dance and a laugh. The TARDIS dematerialises, leaving Pinky-Joe outside. The TARDIS materialises in the same place. Zac runs out, pats Pinky-Joe on the beak and the TARDIS leaves again, on to new adventures.
