Episode X: The Boy Who Santa Claus Forgot Part 4

“Stop!” Georgia cried, “You can’t hurt us!”
“Huh?” Kaylie asked.
“If you hurt us then the Doctor will destroy you, but he can help!” Georgia said, “And so can we!”
“We… I mean the Doctor can take you to a different planet”, Zac replied, “Where you can start again”.

“You can’t hurt us!” Georgia added, “By order of the Shadow Proclamation!”
“What is the Shadow Proclamation?” Kaylie asked.
“I have no idea”, Georgia whispered in reply.
“But we’re criminals!” Teresa said smiling, “We don’t care about those police idiots! But we may need you for something I suppose”.
“Thank you”, Kaylie sighed.

“Take them to the cell”, Teresa ordered, as two cybermen with large silver-coloured guns entered the room. The two Cybermen escorted the three out of the room. Georgia was shaking; she thought what it would be like to be a Cyberman; what the poor souls inside the cyber-suits would feel if they knew. Georgia wondered what would happen if she was killed or upgraded. What would happen to the Doctor? What would happen to her parents? The Cybermen escorted the Doctor’s associates along a long corridor and into a group of cells. The metal doors to the cells were locked.
“Now we wait”, Kaylie commented.
“Yes we do”, Georgia replied, “But for how long?” Zac looked around the cell for some sign of escape, but there were no windows in the cell, just a small dimly lit lamp.
“Until the Doctor gets here I suppose”, Zac replied.
“That could be forever”, Kaylie said.
“The Doctor has saved civilisations beyond your imagination Kaylie”, Georgia said proudly, “I’m sure he will save us”.

“Tell us about some of those civilisations”, Kaylie asked.
“OK, well there’s New Earth and the cat people who live on it”, Georgia explained, “They were saved from the Harassers 5 billion years in the future. Well technically that was Con…” Georgia had to stop herself from crying again. Kaylie comforted Georgia.

Meanwhile, the Cybermen marched out of the factory. They snatched people from their homes and from the streets, dragging them towards the factory. The Cybermen were yet to get to Elizabeth and Colin’s street, but they had reached Rob Slater’s house. Rob was on the sofa, tired after his milk round. He thought of calling Georgia’s house, well her parents’ house, but as he was about to he heard screaming. Rob peered through the window and saw his next-door neighbour grabbed round the neck by a metal man. The metal man dragged his next-door neighbour off, back down the street.

“What the hell”, Rob said aloud, “They look like-but they can’t be”. Suddenly, there was a bang at the door.
“You will open this door”, a voice came from the door, it was a strange voice, it did not sound human. Rob realised it must be one of the metal men, so he backed slowly into his living room, hoping the metal men had not seen him. Rob turned slowly round and saw three more Cybermen at the window staring at him. Rob’s front door burst off its hinges and fell to the floor.
“They’re Cybermen”, Rob said quietly, as the Cyberman marched into the room and knocked Rob out with a swipe from its metal arm.

At the Police station Detective Inspector Blakely was sleeping in his study. PC Walsh was busy answering phone call after phone call.
“Hello, is that the Police?” an Irish women asked.
“Yes, I’m PC Walsh, what is it?” PC Walsh asked.
“My gran’s been robbed”, the women replied.
“Oh dear”, Pc Walsh said, “What exactly has been stolen?”
“No I don’t think you understand me”, the women said, “She’s been stolen, she was walking down the street and these tings stole her”.
“How terrible”, PC Walsh replied, “Was it perhaps a metal man?”
“Yes, one of those Cybermen stole her”, the Irish women answered.
“I’m sorry I can’t help you”, PC Walsh replied, “We have all ready had several reports of these metal men and the whole Police Force has been sent out. I’ve got to go now. I need to talk to the Detective Inspector”.
“No, but you said the whole police force has been sent out!” the women said as PC Walsh put the phone down. He ran into the DI’s study and prodded the Detective Inspector with a pencil. The Detective Inspector woke with a start.

“Sir, the Cybermen are back!” PC Walsh said, “I think they’re coming from the Marr’s metal factory!”
“Err right”, the Detective Inspector said obviously worried.
“I wish to investigate the factory, but I’ll need to be careful as the Cybermen are taking everyone to the factory”, PC Walsh said.
“R-right”, Detective Inspector Blakely replied.
“But there are phone calls every few seconds, the phone is ringing right now!” PC Walsh pointed out.
“Why don’t I stay here?” DI Blakely suggested quickly, “And answer the phone calls”.
“Yes, that’s a good idea sir”, PC Walsh answered, “I’ll be off now then”.
“Um… um… yes, bye then”, the DI replied, “And good luck”.
“Good luck to you too”, PC Walsh said exiting the Police Station leaving DI Blakely looking flustered.

Inside the factory the Doctor and Mr. Core were sealed in Mr. Cores’ office. Mr. Core had ordered this until he could explain to the Doctor, why the world must suffer.
“Where are my companions?” the Doctor asked.
“They are in a cell”, Mr. Core replied.
“Why haven’t you upgraded them yet?” the Doctor asked, “Not that I want you to”.
“Teresa thinks they will be of some use to us”, Mr. Core answered.

“What are you doing with all those people?” the Doctor questioned, as he saw hundreds of people being escorted by the Cybermen through the gates of the metal factory.
“They are to be upgraded”, Mr. Core answered, “A little Christmas Present”.
“Why are you ruining their Christmas?” the Doctor asked.
“I hate Christmas!” Mr. Core replied.
“And can I guess why”, the Doctor said, “Were you orphaned?”

“Yes, my parents died in a car crash when I was younger”, Mr. Core said, “I was brought up by my Uncle. He had no idea how to care for me. He had never had any children. So I was left in the day timeto roam the house, the adults all thought I was a pest. There were no children around for me to play with. None of them loved me”.
“And at Christmas, while they were celebrating you were ignored”, the Doctor said and Mathew nodded.
“I was given one present every Christmas until I was 10, when they said I was too old for presents”, Mathew Core added, “When I was 10 I began to go to a proper school, when it got near Christmas time, they told me about Father Christmas, he was supposed to give every presents every year. Everyone in my class had always received presents from Santa, but yet I hadn’t. I was teased by everyone at school, except Rob”.

“Who’s Rob?” the Doctor asked.
“He was my best friend”, Mr. Core explained, “But he died a few years ago now”.

Suddenly, there was a bang at the door.
“Door unsealed”, Mr. Core said typing something into his computer. The door opened and four Cybermen marched into the room.
“The army are onto us”, one of the Cybermen said.
“Oh dear”, Mr. Core replied, “Get Teresa here! Now!”
“We obey”, the Cybermen replied and marched out of the room.

“Just because you’ve had bad Christmas’ doesn’t mean you should ruin everyone else’s”, the Doctor said.
“My plans don’t end at ruining Christmas”, Mr. Core replied, “I need 100 000 Cybermen. Then I’ll be able to leave this planet”.
“How will having 100 000 Cybermen at your command make you able to leave this planet?” the Doctor asked.

“But they are not under his command”, said a voice from the doorway, “They are under mine”. Teresa stepped into the room smiling.
“It’s too late to stop now anyway Doctor”, Mr. Core said, “I’ve signed an unbreakable agreement with Teresa”, Mr. Core said, “When there is an army of 100 000 Cybermen, Teresa will let me leave in a spaceship, so I can travel the Universe, as you do I think”.

Meanwhile, in South London Elizabeth and Colin were enjoying a nice cup of tea. Colin looked up and saw that there were Cybermen marching down the street.
“Erm, Elizabeth dear”, Colin said, “There are Cybermen outside”.
“Oh dear”, Elizabeth muttered, “But they’re marching straight past”.
“Where are they going?” Colin asked.
“They are heading in the direction of the park”, Elizabeth replied, “But what’s in the park?”
“The TARDIS!” Colin exclaimed.
“I’ll phone Georgia”, Elizabeth said, rushing to the phone. Elizabeth dialled Georgia’s mobile number and the phone began to ring. In the cell in the Marr factory Georgia stirred.

“What’s that noise?” Zac asked.
“Oh, it’s my phone!” Georgia said, getting her phone out.
“Who is it?” Kaylie asked.
“It’s mum!” Georgia said answering her phone, “Hi mum!”
“Georgia, are you OK?” Elizabeth asked.
“Yeah”, Georgia answered, “But we’re locked up, I have no idea where the Doctor is and the Cybermen are invading London?”
“Yes, we just saw them”, Elizabeth replied.

“Are you OK?” Georgia questioned quickly, “Are the Cybermen down your street? Have they taken anyone yet? Are they smashing your door down? Have you got a plan of action? Is your gold out ready?”
“Georgia, calm down”, Elizabeth ordered and Georgia fell silent, “We did just see some Cybermen, but they marched right past our house. I think they were heading for the park. That’s where you parked the TARDIS. The Cybermen could be after it”. “Thanks for telling me mum”, Georgia replied, as she heard a faint stomping noise from the corridor beyond the cells, “But without the Doctor I can’t do anything about it. I gotta go mum, the Cybermen are approaching our cell”.
“But Georgia”, Elizabeth began.
“Bye”, Georgia replied and finished the call, as the Cyberman opened the door to the corridor, on which the cells were attached. Zac turned to see the Cyberman.

“You humans will give us information”, the Cyberman said, “How do we get into the TARDIS?”
“What, but you can’t have dragged it all the way back from the park already”, Georgia replied.
“We teleported it from the park to the factory”, the Cyberman replied.

“Excuse me, Cyberman, don’t you want to be un-upgraded”, Zac asked.
“I don’t know what you mean”, the Cyberman said.
“Don’t you want to be human again”, Zac asked, “Because if you let us out, the Doctor will help you”.
“There is no way I can be returned to human form”, the Cyberman replied.

“Do you remember your name?” Georgia asked, “When you were human?”
“My name was Graham Wood”, the Cyberman replied, “And since I am the greater life form, then I should be asking questions”.
“That’s a matter of opinion mate”, Zac muttered.
“What was your job?” Georgia asked the Cyberman, ignoring his comment.
“I was a UNIT Officer, sent to investigate the Marr metal factory”, the Cyberman answered, “I was caught by Teresa and she took me to be experimented on. I was the first Cyberman”.

“Did you send a distress signal?” Georgia asked.
“Yes, but it did not reach anyone”, the Cyberman that was Graham Wood replied.
“It reached the Doctor”, Georgia replied, “I came here to help. It may be too late for you but we can save the rest of the human race. Surely you feel sympathy for te families who will loose their loved ones, to the people who will be turned into Cybermen”.
“Cybermen feel nothing”, the Cyberman replied. Then another Cyberman entered.

“Have you managed to get information out of the humans yet?” the Cyberman asked.
“No, they have not talked”, the Cyberman that was Graham Wood answered, “Has the Doctor realised there are two Teresa’s yet?” Georgia’s mouth fell open, she thought there was something funny about Teresa, but she had not guessed this.
“No, he has not, but one Teresa has gone up to see him”, the other Cyberman answered, “The other one orders these two to die. They are not needed”.
“So we upgrade them?” the Cyberman who was Graham Wood said.
“No they will be taken to Teresa”, the other Cyberman replied, “She will do what she likes to them”. Zac and Kaylie gulped. Georgia gasped.

Meanwhile, the Doctor was being threatened by Teresa.
“You will tell us how to get in to your TARDIS or your friends will be killed!” Teresa snarled.
“I won’t tell you, but you can’t kill them!” the Doctor said.

“Cybermen grab the Doctor!” Teresa ordered and two Cyberman grabbed the Doctor. Teresa marched up to where the Doctor was held and she reached inside the Doctor’s coat pocket.
“Aha, the psychic paper”, Teresa said pulling out the psychic paper, “And your TARDIS key”.
“What are you doing?” the Doctor asked.
“Haven’t you realised Doctor?” Teresa asked, “There are two of me. The other me is my future self, she brought the money to us 2 weeks ago. She arrived in a blue box and she remained with us. But she arrived with you, the other you is locked in one of the cells below the factory”.
“But there can’t be two of me”, the Doctor said, “You can’t let us meet!”
“I have no intention of you two meeting”, Teresa replied, “But you will come with mew into the TARDIS. Then we shall rob those banks and bring back the money to fund for the energy needed to upgrade all the people walking through the front doors at this very moment! Then you will be locked in the cell. You will obey me Doctor or your friends will die and time will be changed!”
