Episode X: The Boy That Santa Claus Forgot Part 2

“The Cybermen of course!” Georgia said clapping her hands to her mouth.
“From the Battle of Canary Wharf”, Zac said, “Were you there?”
“No time!” The Doctor said loudly.
“Quick into mum’s house!” Georgia said.
“Hey our house has been smashed by Octopus thingies and green smelly things!” Elizabeth protested but Colin ushered Zac, Kaylie and Georgia towards the front door of his and Elizabeth’s house.

“Are you Georgia’s parents?” Zac asked.
“Yes, we are”, Elizabeth said.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Zac and that's Kaylie”, Zac replied rushing into the house. Kaylie smiled and nodded as she got inside the house too. Elizabeth raised her eyebrows as she walked into her house. Once everyone was inside Colin bolted the door.

“That door can’t hold it!” The Doctor said.
“Well how can we stop it”, Kaylie asked.
“The last Cybermen I met couldn’t be defeated by gold, but these look less technologically advanced”, the Doctor said, “Probably created by a copycat, who saw the ybermen when they invaded 4 years ago”.
“I didn’t even have time to remember what they were, was it really that long ago?” Zac asked.
“Yes!” the Doctor said loudly.

“Do we have any gold in the house?” Georgia asked.
“We’re not rich dear”, Colin replied.
“What?” Elizabeth said to Colin, annoyed, “We are part of society, of course we have gold! Jewellery!”
“Mum where’s your jewellery box?” Georgia asked.
“In my room, second draw down on my Vanity cabinet”, Elizabeth said. Georgia rushed upstairs followed by Kaylie. There was then a bang at the door.

“It’s trying to get in!” Zac shouted. The Doctor rushed to the door followed by Colin and Zac, and they tried to hold it still. Elizabeth rushed around idiotically. Georgia rushed downstairs with several pairs of ear rings in her hands.
“Will these do?” Georgia asked. The Doctor got out his sonic screwdriver and scanned the ear rings.
“They aren’t pure gold, but they’ll have to do”, the Doctor said, “They should be a small air vent on the Cyberman’s back, if you can lure it into the kitchen I could creep up behind it and push the gold into the vent. The cyberman may be allergic to the gold”.
“What if it isn’t?” Colin asked.
“Well, we’ll have to run”, the Doctor said, “Now get away from the door”. Colin and Zac backed away from the door as it was smashed off its hinges by a cyberman. The cyberman advanced into the house and Colin, Zac, Kaylie, Georgia and Elizabeth rushed through the living room into the kitchen. The Doctor, who was hiding behind a sofa, saw the cyberman rush through the living room. The Doctor jumped up and saw the small air vent on the Cyberman’s back. He ran up behind the cyberman, who was advancing on a squealing Elizabeth, and put a couple of Elizabeth’s gold ear-rings into the vent. The Cyberman turned around, and the Doctor backed away.

“Doctor, it isn’t working!” Kaylie shouted.
“I figured that, thanks!” the Doctor replied, but then ,as the cyberman began to follow the Doctor out of the kitchen, it stopped. There was a fizzing noise and smoke billowed from the cyberman’s air vent. The Cyberman fell to the ground with a loud clunking noise and did not move again.
“Oh, it did work”, Kaylie commented.
“Oh hooray!” Elizabeth said, “We only need to buy a new door this time, that makes a change!”

“Doctor, the Cybermen, you said they were created”, Georgia asked.
“That’s right, they were the last time I met them, they were created in a parallel universe”, the Doctor replied, “A genius created them, but these are less advanced. They do look quite similar before, probably copied”.
“We had Cybermen in our house an’ all!” Colin mentioned.
“Why was the Cyberman chasing you Zac?” the Doctor asked.
“We’d seen all this bank robbery stuff and we saw that the Marr metal company was expanding”, Zac explained, “So we thought maybe the two were connected. Then we went to the factory".

“Doctor, the Marr metal company is owned by the magnet warriors”, Georgia pointed out.
“Not anymore, it’s been taken over by another company, but the name stays the same”, Zac replied.
“Oh, good, I’ve seen enough magnet warriors in my life”, Georgia muttered.

“We’re going to have to investigate this company”, the Doctor said, “Is everyone coming?”
“What me and Elizabeth?” Colin asked.
“Errr… no it’s OK”, the Doctor answered slowly, “You can stay and keep guard of your house”.
“Keep guard?” Elizabeth asked, “There aren’t going to be more of those things are there?”
“No, hopefully not”, the Doctor replied, “Just stay here”. Elizabeth nodded and went over to the look in the phonebook, for a door company. Colin followed her, while Zac, Kaylie and Georgia left the house with the Doctor.

“Which way is the Marr metal factory again?” the Doctor asked, “Its been a year since I was last there”.
“That way”, Zac said pointing down the street.
“Well then, lets find out who’s in charge of these cybermen”, the Doctor said walking off, followed by Georgia, Zac and Kaylie. 10 minutes later the group came into site of a huge pair of gates. The factory looked a lot more modern and flashy than it had the year before. The Doctor walked closer to the gates and they began to swing open automatically.

“That’s flashy”, Georgia commented. The Doctor raised his eyebrows and walked through the gates into the reception area of the factory. Standing in reception was a woman with her hair up in a bun.
“Hello, I’m Teresa, can I help you?” Teresa asked, then she noticed Zac and Kaylie, “Oh it’s you 2 trespassers”.
“Oh, so you’re the one who sent the Cyberman after us”, Zac replied, if Teresa was shocked or scared by this remark, she did not show it, her face remained the same.
“What are you talking about?” Teresa asked.
“A big metal man, it tried to kill us!” Kaylie said clearly.
“I presume you aren’t talking about our security guards over there”, Teresa presumed, pointing to a group of four security guards who were chatting.
“No, I am not!” Kaylie replied loudly.

“Well, if you’re sure, you can check our CCTV footage”, Teresa said, “I mean if you’re so sure a metal man chased after you from here then it will appear on the footage right?”
“Yeah it will”, Kaylie replied crossing her arms.
“Well we’d like to have a look at the footage then”, the Doctor said speaking for the first time.

“You’re a rather odd group”, Teresa commented, “I presume you’re these 3’s father”.
“Father, no way!” Georgia said.
“Yes we are”, Zac replied ignoring Georgia’s comment.
“So you two must be twins”, Teresa said, meaning Zac and Kaylie, who both looked shocked by this remark.
“It isn’t your business what we are to each other”, Georgia said annoyed. Teresa nodded and lead the group into a small room, full of screens. Each screen showed different parts of the factory. Teresa walked over to a corner of the room and picked up 3 DVD cases. She took the DVD out of the case. On the DVD it said 12pm-10am 24 Dec. The screen was soon showing the footage from earlier that day. Zac and Kaylie could be seen striding into the reception, where they met Teresa. After they talked to Teresa, they climbed up a flight of stairs to the first floor. On the first floors they could be seen peering through the windows in doors. A few minutes later a security guard appeared.

“What?!” Zac shouted, “We never saw that security guard!” The guard then shouted something and Zac and Kaylie raised their eyebrows and began to run down the corridor. They ran down the flight of stairs, followed by the guard.
“That did not happen!” Kaylie muttered, “A Cyberman was chasing us”. On the screen Zac and Kaylie then ran past another security guard who turned around. They ran out of the factory chased by the security guard.

“The evidence is conclusive”, Teresa commented, “You were in the factory, snooping about or trespassing, but when a security guard appeared, you ran from the scene”.
“But I saw the Cyberman too”, the Doctor replied, “It followed those two to us, where we managed to stop it”. Georgia was surprised by the CCTV footage too, but she realised that it could have been tampered with.
“How do we know, that you didn’t tamper with that CCTV footage?” Georgia asked.
“You don’t, but I’m afraid you won’t find anyone with great computer skills here”, Teresa replied.
“Oh, but you’re in a factory”, the Doctor replied.
“The machines do all the work”, Teresa said.
“But who controls the machines?” the Doctor asked.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t feel like answering any more of your questions!” Teresa replied, “I want you to leave right now, before I call the police!”
“There’s no need for that”, the Doctor replied, “I’m Doctor Smith, factory inspector”.

“Oh, do you have an ID?” Teresa asked. The Doctor got out his psychic paper and showed it to Teresa.
“See, it’s there in writing”, the Doctor said.
“That paper’s blank”, Teresa replied, “Now don’t be silly”.
“Have you had basic psychic training?” the Doctor asked.
“No”, Teresa replied again, “Look I think I’d better take you up to see the manager”.
“Goody”, the Doctor said, Teresa raised her eyebrows higher. She began to lead the group up the flight of steps, which Zac and Kaylie had advanced that morning. However, Teresa did not stop at the first floor, or the second, but on the fourth floor, she led them from the stairs into a dark corridor. The Doctor could only just see Teresa in front of him. There was a right turn in the corridor, but Teresa walked straight past it. Kaylie thought she saw something move down that corridor in the darkness, but did not say anything to the others. Teresa led the group to the end of the corridor where they could see light streaming from underneath a door.

“Why is it kept dark?” the Doctor asked.
“Is it to stop us from seeing something important?” Georgia asked.
“It is only dark because we are trying to save money, and the manager likes it dark”, Teresa replied.
“So that’s why there’s light streaming from his office”, Georgia muttered. Teresa opened the door to show a very large, wealthy looking office. It had book cases lining the walls and plants and pictures. There was even a small fountain.

“Whoa!” Kaylie said, “If you wanna save money sell some of those artworks”. Zac nodded. There was a man sitting at the desk. He looked like he was in his mid-50s.
“This is Mr. Core, our manager”, Teresa said.
“Hello, I’m Mr. Smith, these are my two children”, the Doctor said. Zac and Kaylie looked annoyed at the moment he said ‘children’.
“Interesting”, Mr. Core replied in a low boring voice.
“Are you the same Mr. Core, who burgled those banks?” Georgia asked.
“No I am not!” Mr. Core replied, “I’ve all ready had the police round, but I have proof that I was inspecting my machines in the factory, at the exact times of the burglaries”.
“Oh, more CCTV footage tampering”, Zac said not looking at Mr. Core.
“What is he talking about Teresa?” Mr. Core asked.
“They apparently got chased by a metal man from this place”, Teresa replied.
“Oh really”, Mr. Core replied, meanwhile, the Doctor walked up to the desk and began to examine the items on it.

“What are you doing?” Mr. Core asked the Doctor who had began to open the draws to his desk.
“Just checking for a disc”, the Doctor replied, “Aha!” The Doctor had a DVD case in his hand.
“Give that back here!” Mr. Core demanded.
“I just want to watch it, I mean if it contains no evidence on it, then it won’t matter that I’ve watched it”, the Doctor answered.
“But, but”, Mr. Core stuttered.

“Here we go”, the Doctor said putting the disc into Mr. Core’s computer. The Doctor clicked on a media player and the footage began to play. The Doctor skimmed through it all until he reached Zac and Kaylie entering the factory. Instead of the security guard chasing them, it was a Cyberman.
“That proves it!” Kaylie said victoriously, “Lets phone the police!”
“Oh I don’t think you’ll be doing that!” Teresa said as two cybermen marched into the room, “Kill them!” The Cybermen began to advance.
