“So, that Doctor, eh?” Mickey said suggestively.
“What are you talking about?” Rose asked distractedly.
“Well!” Mickey said. “Madame De Pompadour. Sarah Jane Smith. Cleopatra.”
“Cleopatra? He mentioned her once,” Rose said, annoyed at Mickey.
“Yeah,” Mickey agreed. “But he called her Cleo.”

* * *

The TARDIS materialised in a desert. Georgia stepped out in a sun hat, her hair blowing all around the place. The Doctor followed in his brown suit. Georgia looked around, but there was nothing but desert for miles and miles.

“You still haven’t told me where we are!” Georgia said, turning to the Doctor.
“Wait and see!” the Doctor said, shutting the door to the TARDIS.
“But there’s nothing around for miles!” Georgia said.
“The landing must be off,” the Doctor said, patting the TARDIS. “Back inside.”

Georgia and the Doctor walked into the TARDIS, and it disappeared from view. It re-materialised beside a large pyramid. Georgia stepped out again, and looked up at the pyramid, which just hid the sun from view.

“This is amazing!” Georgia cried.
“Ancient Egypt! Nothing like it!” the Doctor said.
“What are we gonna do first?” Georgia said, her eyes lighting up.
“Oooh. Escape crocodiles on a raft in the Nile? Climb a pyramid a parachute from off the top? Get ourselves elected as Egyptian Gods?” the Doctor asked, grinning.
“God’s first, rafting later,” Georgia said. “I’ve always fancied myself as a God.”
“The Goddess Georgis! The Blonde Bimbo of Ancient Egypt!” the Doctor said, laughing.
“Oi!” Georgia said, punching the Doctor in the arm. “Feel the wrath of the Blonde Bimbo!”
“Ouch! Still, I suppose it’s not your mother who’s hitting me,” the Doctor grinned.
“Not in front of Mrs White!” Georgia grinned. “The neighbours would disapprove ever so much!”

Cleopatra turned in her throne. She heard a great rasping and grinding that could only mean one thing!

“The Doctor!” Cleopatra cried, leaping from her seat.

She ran out of the temple, and down to the pyramids. Georgia and the Doctor walked around the pyramids, passing tombs of kings from the past. Georgia was amazed by the locals, and how they went about their jobs. She wished Conner was here to see everything; he would have loved it in Egypt. Georgia looked round and saw a beautiful woman, with golden necklaces, perfect hair and green eye shadow running towards the Doctor. He hadn’t noticed, but Georgia had. She frowned. Had he brought her here to see an admirer of him? Admirer was one word for it, Georgia thought.

“Doctor!” Cleopatra cried.
“Cleo?” the Doctor asked.

The Doctor turned, and gave the biggest grin Georgia had ever seen. He ran to Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, and she ran back at him. Georgia folded her arms; she might be the Queen of Egypt, but she hadn’t met Georgia Bell!

“Georgia,” the Doctor said, turning to her. “Come and meet Cleopatra! Last Queen of Egypt!”
“Doctor, should you be saying that in front of her?” Georgia asked.
“Woops,” the Doctor said, turning back to Cleopatra.
“How are you Doctor?” Cleo asked; ignoring the fact she would be the last queen of Egypt.
“Great. Better than ever. And yourself?” the Doctor asked back happily, though his eyes showed loss and grief.
“Bored, if truth be told. You promised me an adventure last time,” Cleo said.
“Yeah well, things didn’t go as planned,” the Doctor said.
“Just a bit off plan,” Cleo laughed.
“God! Was it like that with you?” Georgia laughed. “His plans are rubbish!”
“He isn’t still like that, is he?” Cleo asked incredulously.
“All the time!” Georgia laughed.

Across the wide kingdom of Cleopatra VII, alien technology was at work. Buzzing and cracking, and the damage was nearly done. Two Sphinx creatures stirred. The stone in their arms and legs cracked as the joints unfolded. Screams erupted from the Egyptians as the Sphinx creatures, still made of stone, stood up, and began to destroy ancient Egypt.

Georgia and Cleo fell as the shakes in the ground grew larger. They could see a Sphinx crushing a pyramid a few miles away. One Sphinx was closer, making its way to Cleopatra’s temple. The Doctor helped Cleo up, and Georgia pulled herself up as the Sphinx got closer. The Doctor pulled the ladies into Cleopatra’s temple.

“Isn’t this a bad idea? I think that Sphinx wants to crush the temple!” Georgia shouted over the booms.
“I knew his plans were still rubbish!” Cleo cried.
“I’m thinking of something!” the Doctor cried. “Have you got anything heavy?”
“Not that I can think of, no!” Cleo replied loudly. “Wait! I have my coffin!”
“Who has a coffin before they die?” Georgia shouted.
“Me!” Cleo shouted back. “If I drop down dead tomorrow at least I’ll have been able to choose the coffin!”
“Fair point well made!” the Doctor cried. “Where is it?”
“In here!” Cleo cried, running down a corridor made of stone.

She dived into another room, with some stone steps. She began to race up them. Georgia noticed how fit she was. She must have been travelling for the Doctor a while, even though Georgia had no proof she’d travelled at all. Still, she’d keep an eye on Cleopatra. She didn’t want the Queen of Egypt replacing Conner.

The Sphinx roared, and appeared in front of the temple. Georgia stopped running at a ledge, and saw its eyes peering in. The Doctor and Cleopatra ran on. Georgia froze, unable to move from the spot; it had seen her! The Sphinx flicked a paw inside, hitting Georgia in the stomach. She collapsed to the floor, groaning. It gave another playful flick like a cat playing with a ball of wool above its head. Georgia was knocked against a wall. She was ready for its next attack. She dived sideways and the Sphinx smashed its paw on the wall. It groaned in pain. Georgia realised it wasn’t like a kitten, it was a kitten; an angry one at that. She ducked as it took another swipe at her.

The Doctor and Cleo heaved the coffin with all their might. The Sphinx head was just below them. It was swiping at something, but at least it hadn’t spotted them yet.

“Where the hell is Georgia?” the Doctor shouted, his face red with effort.
“I think she got lost!” Cleo shouted back.
“There wasn’t room to get lost!” the Doctor cried.
“Well maybe the Sphinx spotted her!” Cleo cried back.
“It seems to be taking chunks out of the wall, I hope she’s alright,” the Doctor said quietly, to himself more than Cleo.

The coffin neared the edge of the temple. Cleopatra was sweating, her golden bracelets slipping from her hands. The Doctor moved from the edge near the Sphinx and joined Cleo at the other end.

“Heave!” the Doctor cried.
“Push harder!” Cleo cried.

With one last effort, the coffin tumbled over the edge of the temple, and smashed into the head of the Sphinx. The Doctor grinned at Cleo, and the two shared a high five, something the Doctor had taught her.

“We did it!” Cleo cried.
“I know! Well fun!” the Doctor grinned.

Cleopatra realised she was closer to the Doctor than she was two seconds before. He was so… handsome, she thought. It wasn’t just the effort of shifting the coffin that was making her sweat. Slowly, she leaned in to kiss the Doctor. Before their lips met, his companion Georgia entered the room.

“Only one more left now!” she said brightly.

The second Sphinx was destroying the towns. By the time the Doctor, Georgia and Cleopatra had reached it, the whole town had nearly been destroyed. Georgia and Cleo looked at the Doctor for instructions. He looked back, and shrugged.

“I thought my plans were rubbish?” the Doctor said casually.
“Yeah, but we kind of need you,” Georgia said, pointing at the Sphinx.

The Sphinx had spotted them. It began to stomp towards them. The Doctor smiled, and folded his arms casually.

“Do something!” Cleo cried. “Otherwise it’ll kill us!”
“Ahh, but I haven’t got a good plan,” the Doctor said.
“Doctor stop arsing around!” Georgia bellowed. “Stop it!”
“We didn’t really mean it!” Cleo shouted. “Now flipping do something!”
“Sorry!” Georgia cried, annoyed he made her say it.
“I’ve suddenly thought of something,” the Doctor smiled, whipping out the Sonic Screwdriver.
“About bloody time!” Georgia complained.

He slid the Sonic Screwdriver onto setting 4825. With a buzz, a strange white light appeared. It was fragmented, as if it was made up of white pieces of mirror that hovered in an oval sort of shape. Georgia screamed as a large crocodile like thing appeared, snapping its jaws. It saw the Sphinx, however, and fled to safety. The large glowing thing grew larger, and enveloped the Sphinx. It disappeared, as did the glowing thing.

“What was that?” Georgia asked, sighing with relief.
“An anomaly,” the Doctor smiled.
“What?” Georgia asked. “Isn’t that…”
“Let’s go back to the TARDIS,” the Doctor said happily.
“What about me?” Cleo asked. “What made those things come to life?”
“Dunno. If you find out, tell me,” the Doctor said. “We’re off.”
“But you can’t leave me!” Cleo said. “You promised…”
“I’ve realised, it’s not gonna work out,” the Doctor explained. “You’re a queen; we can’t go messing with history, what if you die?”
“See you, Cleopatra,” Georgia said, turning to face the Doctor. “Onwards?”
“As always,” the Doctor grinned.
“You’re right, I suppose,” Cleo sighed. “I just wanted to get out and see the stars again…”
“You can’t,” the Doctor said.
“I know. But that’s ok. You can still visit, right?” she asked.
“You bet,” the Doctor grinned.

He and Georgia turned away, and that was the last Cleopatra ever saw of the Doctor and Georgia again. Later, the Doctor and Georgia were in the TARDIS.

“So, that Cleopatra, eh?” Georgia asked.
“What are you talking about?” the Doctor asked distractedly.
“Well!” Georgia said. “You. Julius Caesar. Mark Anthony.”
“Mark Anthony? She mentioned him once,” the Doctor said, annoyed at Georgia.
“Yeah,” Georgia agreed. “But she called him Tony.”

The end
