Episode 9: Snowfall in the City Part 6
“I object!” Lord Komanfdu roared, “I have not wiped their memories!”
“They do look... rather expressionless,” Pluton admitted.
“Who did you arrive with?” Sednaki asked.
“The Doctor,” Georgia and Zac said together.
“Why did you come here?” Pluton asked.
“We were sightseeing,” Georgia and Zac said together.
“We did not come here to sightsee!” the Doctor exclaimed, “We followed Ikorg here from Earth.”
“Ah yes, the alien that was sent to Earth in an experiment that hadn’t been approved by Sedna,” Sednaki said through gritted teeth.
“Anyway, their memories have been removed,” the Doctor repeated, “I don’t think Lord Komanfdu’s allowed to do that.”
“If their memories have been removed, which I very much doubt,” Lord Komanfdu said airily, “Then I must insist that I had absolutely nothing to do with it.”
“Wait, Georgia and Zac look at me,” the Doctor said and Georgia and Zac stared down at the Doctor, with unblinking, wide eyes, “Do you recognise me?”
“No,” Georgia and Zac said together.
“But they came with you!” Pluton exclaimed.
“Lord Komanfdu you have wiped and replaced their memories!” Sednaki snarled.
“As I said before, if their memories are wiped then I had nothing to do with it,” Lord Komanfdu replied.
Back in ICE, the building and complexes of the city were shaking. There were explosions in parts of the city as the snow reacted with the city’s walls and ceilings. Kaylie and Ikorg were still huddled in a corridor, as the ceiling of the corridor slowly collapsed.
“We can’t do anything!” Kaylie screamed. Suddenly, their was an incredibly violent shake. Kaylie screamed and crawled aside, when she looked back she saw a large pile of rubble, and Ikorg lying beneath some of it.
“No Ikorg!” Kaylie said, beginning to cry, but Ikorg did not stir, “You can’t be dead! You can’t be!” Kaylie looked down the corridor and saw that the wall between the corridor and the room with the sphere machine in it had also collapsed. Kaylie could now get through!
“Nobody else is going to die!” Kaylie said, picking up Aikl’s gun and running onto the balcony that surrounded the huge spherical machine, “I’m sorry Angilkar, but it’s your invention or the city, possibly the whole planet.” Kaylie fired her gun at the machine, and sparks began to fly from it. Panels and wires exploded and the blue light that the machine was emitting faltered then went out altogether.
“Well, that was remarkably easy,” Kaylie said brightly, but suddenly the machine exploded. A shockwave was sent out by the explosion, knocking Kaylie off her feet and back into the ruined corridor. Kaylie lay still, she had badly hurt her head, and was feeling dizzy. All around Pluto the snow was no longer falling, as it converted back into its original states.
“Kaylie, are you alright?” Ikorg asked, as the lights in the nearby room went out leaving Kaylie and Ikorg in almost complete darkness.
“Ikorg, I thought you were dead,” Kaylie said breathing heavily.
“I thought you were dead for a second there too,” Ikorg replied smiling.
“Don’t worry, everything’s gonna be fine,” Kaylie said croakily, she too smiled.
Back in the court, Plutonian guards had brought Conner out from his cell, to speak to the court. He was now looking rather uneasy as he stood next to Pluton.
“Conner Bennet, resident of Earth,” Sednaki began, “Do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.”
“I swear on the TARDIS,” Conner replied.
“What happened ten minutes ago when Georgia and Zac were brought out here,” Sednaki asked.
“I dunno about ten minutes ago, but about twenty minutes ago four of Komanfdu’s guards grabbed them and dragged them out of the cell,” Conner explained.
“Did you hear anything about memory erasing?” Pluton asked.
“Not then no, but earlier Lord Komanfdu threatened all of us with it,” Conner replied, “He made an offer with us, he said that if we don’t tell the court anything about Ikorg, Xelionth and Aikl then we won’t be killed, or have our memories erased.”
“He said he would kill you?” Sednaki asked.
“Yes,” Conner replied quickly.
“Seal balcony room 566,” Sednaki ordered and the door to Lord Komanfdu’s balcony locked itself.
“You can’t believe them!” Lord Komanfdu roared, “It’s all Roiralt’s fault, everything! He killed Xelionth and Ikorg!”
“Georgia and Zac told them that Aikl killed Xelionth and that Ikorg’s on Sedna,” Conner explained.
“Well they lied, or perhaps you are lying,” Lord Komanfdu snapped.
“Sir!” Pluton’s second in command, Mytom Meeshom, said.
“What is it?” Pluton asked.
“We’ve had reports that ICE has had an earthquake of sorts,” Mytom replied, “And we’re getting similar reports from most, make that all of Pluto’s cities.”
“What?” Pluton exclaimed.
“It’s the snow,” the Doctor said, “Lord Komanfdu did this.”
“The snow seemed to be reacting with the city’s exterior walls and roofs,” Mytom continued, “We’re getting reports of many deaths.”
“Are the reactions still taking place?” Sednaki asked.
“No they’ve stopped now,” Mytom announced.
“Any other information?” Pluton asked.
“No, but power’s gone in most parts of ICE, and some cities have lost power altogether,” Mytom replied, “We’re going to need a lot of money for repairs.”
“Lord Komanfdu, it seems that rather alot of evidence is against you,” Pluton roared, “You are a killer.”
“I haven’t done anything except investigate,” Lord Komanfdu said, “It’s your lot who are causing trouble.”
“I’m not sure who to believe,” Sednaki muttered.
“Excuse me,” a young female voice said, from a balcony that seemed to be appearing.
“What is it?” Pluton asked.
“I have a valuable witness here,” Kaylie replied stepping forward, “His name is Ikorg, and he was imprisoned by Lord Komanfdu, he wasn’t killed. Angilkar’s dead though, she was killed by Aikl, who was searching for files on the long distance particle transporter.”
“It’s the other human!” Lord Komanfdu shouted, “I don’t know why you believe any of them.”
“This human saved Pluto!” Ikorg squeaked, “She destroyed the atmosphere converter! Everybody in here owes her!”
“Is this true?” Pluton asked Kaylie.
“Yes,” Kaylie admitted, and every single Plutonian, and many Sednians applauded Kaylie, who smiled widely.
“Well done Kaylie!” Conner exclaimed.
“Kaylie freed me from my prison cell on Sedna and took me to Pluto, she told me she needed to destroy this machine,” Ikorg explained, “We couldn’t get inside the room, but when the city began to shake, the ceilings and walls began to collapse so she could get into the room.”
“How did you know what to do Kaylie?” Sednaki asked.
“The Doctor told me,” Kaylie replied.
“He must trust you very much,” Pluton commented.
“Wow, I suppose so,” Kaylie said, smiling.
“Doctor, can you reverse what Lord Komanfdu’s done to Georgia and Zac?” Conner asked.
“Well...” the Doctor began, but he was interrupted by Lord Komanfdu.
“Their memories are stored in the database, they can easily be put back,” Lord Komanfdu said sulkily.
“Oh, so you admit to wiping their memories,” Pluton asked.
“I might as well do, there’s too much evidence against me,” Lord Komanfdu snarled, “It’s not like any of this is going to survive much longer anyway. Yes, I hate the alliance, I hate Plutonians, and I also hate most Sednians. My plans have backfired, Roiralt was supposed to get the complete blame, ah well, it’s not like any of this is going to be around for much longer.”
“What are you talking about?” the Doctor asked.
“I just began emergency plan B,” Lord Komanfdu replied.
“What does that mean?” Pluton asked.
“It’s like you said earlier, about people taking better care of their possessions,” Lord Komanfdu replied, “Time to get my revenge on everything.”
“That was when you stole my microphone,” Ryoff told the Doctor.
“What have you stolen?” the Doctor questioned, “Don’t tell me you’ve stolen the TARDIS?”
“I should’ve done that!” Lord Komanfdu said, thinking.
“What’s been stolen?” Sednaki asked.
“I lost my ruler,” S commented.
“Shut up unless you have something important to say,” Sednaki snapped.
“We’ve lost something,” the Plague Carrier leader announced, “Oh God...”
“What is it?” the Doctor asked, “What have you lost.”
“A vile of an incredibly rare but lethal disease,” the Plague Carrier leader replied.
“Lord Komanfdu don’t you dare!” the Doctor ordered.
“I’ve already put my plan into action,’ Lord Komanfdu said leering, “The disease should be air bourn in less than twenty minutes, goodbye...” The whole court erupted into panic, people were screaming and arguing and shouting.
“We must evacuate!” Sednaki ordered.
“We can’t evacuate the whole facility, is there any way to stop the disease?” Pluton asked.
“There is no cure, the disease will die in about 100 years though, but it could spread through space,” the Plague Carrier leader said in a panicked voice.
“We’re going to have to use Emergency Programme 1,” Sednaki announced.
“What’s that?” the Doctor asked.
“Self-destruction of the high court,” Sednaki replied.
“But it took years to build this, and it’s our meeting place,” Pluton replied, “We can’t just destroy it.”
“Maybe it’s time,” the Doctor muttered.
“Time for what?” Ryoff asked.
“Time for the alliance to end,” the Doctor answered, “Let’s be honest it hasn’t really worked.”
“We can’t end the alliance!” Sednaki shouted.
“Look, we need to start evacuating now!” Pluton ordered.
“Doctor, we need to return Georgia and Zac’s memories,” Conner said.
“So what’s going to happen to me?” Lord Komanfdu asked, smiling at the panic.
“You are staying right there,” Sednaki ordered.
“Maybe, we should end the alliance,” Pluton muttered, “It hasn’t worked out very well for us after all.”
“We have to stop the disease before it spreads, so we must blow up this place,” the Doctor said loudly.
“Doctor, Georgia and Zac!” Kaylie exclaimed.
“I hate to rush you, but time it ticking,” Roiralt said.
“Right, we end the alliance on good terms,” Sednaki told Pluton.
“The alliance ends, the high court explodes, the teleport links are broken,” Pluton explained, “Alliance ends now!” The noise of hammer hitting wood filled the air, as the alliance officially ended.
“I suppose it is the only way,” Sednaki muttered, “Now we must evacuate in a quick but safe manner, immediately!” Many of the balconies began to vanish, as the walls and ceilings of the rooms reappeared.
“What about my TARDIS?” the Doctor asked.
“It’s in the lab on the second level, I’m sure Ryoff will get you there,” Pluton replied, “I shall send Conner up there too.”
“Thank you,” the Doctor replied.
“Goodbye Doctor, and goodbye Sednaki,” Pluton said loudly, “Goodbye everyone, I hope we can remain friends.”
“Goodbye,” Sednaki replied, as Pluton and Mytom left their balcony, which soon vanished.
“Your personal teleport room is ready for you sir,” S told Sednaki, “I’ll make sure we bring your sofa back too.”
“Thank you Sicolifragilillian,” Sednaki replied.
“Please, don’t call me that,” S said as he and Sednaki left their balcony, which also slowly vanished.
“Come on Doctor,” Ryoff said as the balcony turned back into a room as the walls and ceiling returned. The Doctor, Roiralt and Ryoff stepped into the corridor, which was slowly becoming less busy as more aliens evacuated. Kaylie and Ikorg appeared.
“Ikorg, I’m so glad you’re ok,” Roiralt said.
“Well done Kaylie, you were brilliant,” the Doctor told Kaylie.
“No time, Georgia and Zac!” Kaylie replied, “Where’s the memory erasing area.”
“Second floor, where your TARDIS is too,” Ryoff replied, “But first we need to get Georgia and Zac.” It was only a minute later when the Doctor, Kaylie, Ryoff, Roiralt and Ikorg reached Lord Komanfdu’s room. The Doctor opened the door with his sonic screwdriver, and Lord Komanfdu ran at them. The Doctor, Roiralt and Ryoff pushed him back onto the balcony. It was the only balcony that had not transformed into a room. Georgia and Zac were standing expressionless on either side of the balcony, silently.
“You did this Doctor!” Lord Komanfdu roared.
“No, you did this!” Kaylie said angrily, “You are perhaps the nastiest thing I have ever met, you complete git! Now you are going to die! And I reckon you deserve it after all the people you have got killed.” Lord Komanfdu ran at the Doctor, but Ryoff and Roiralt pushed him away. He tripped and fell off the edge of the balcony.
“DOCTORRRRRR!” Lord Komanfdu yelled as he fell.
“He deserved it,” Kaylie commented.
“I’ve never killed anyone before,’ Roiralt muttered with a shocked expression on his face.
“I killed Aikl,” Kaylie muttered.
“You did what?” the Doctor asked.
“I pushed him out into the snow, forgot he would die,” Kaylie replied bluntly. A few minutes later and the Doctor, Kaylie, Roiralt, Ryoff and Ikorg, now dragging Georgia and Zac arrived at the memory erasing area, where Conner was waiting for them.
“The TARDIS is in the room next door,” Conner said, “Pluton teleported me there.”
“Right sit Georgia and Zac in these two chairs,” the Doctor said, running past two chairs with strange circular objects on the ceiling directly above them. “They were the last people to have their memories reversed here, so we can just reverse it.” The Doctor put on his glasses, pulled a lever on a control panel next to the chairs, and pressed two buttons, while Roiralt, Ryoff and Conner helped put Georgia and Zac on the chairs.
“Doctor!” Kaylie exclaimed, as the high court shook.
“Not more shaking,” Ikorg squeaked. The Doctor pushed a big red button and blue light shot from the circular objects on the ceiling above Georgia and Zac, and hit Georgia and Zac on the head. Georgia and Zac both closed their eyes and rubbed their heads.
“Zac!” Kaylie exclaimed, running forward and hugging him.
“Georgia!” Conner said running forward and hugging her.
“Come on everyone into the TARDIS!” the Doctor exclaimed.
“It’s the little alien!” Zac said as he ran into the next room, where the TARDIS stood in the centre, with the door slightly open. The High court shook again, rather violently.
“What’s going on?” Kaylie asked.
“Pluton must have activated the ship to self-destruct,” the Doctor replied, “Quick in the teleport room!” Ryoff ran over to the door that led into another teleport room, but he made a frustrated noise.
“The teleport links have been cut!” Ryoff said angrily.
“Never mind, get in here,” the Doctor replied, indicating to the TARDIS.
“We have to get home!” Roiralt exclaimed.
“Well hurry up and get inside then, this place is about to explode,” the Doctor said, “I think there may be a bit of a draft.” Georgia, Conner, Zac, Kaylie, Ikorg, Roiralt and Ryoff followed the Doctor into the TARDIS, and then the Doctor closed the door.
“That Doctor, is an idiot!” Lord Komanfdu said standing up, “I will get my revenge, doesn’t he know that the bottom of the court is all soft, just in case somebody falls.” The ship suddenly shook again.
“Oh no...” Lord Komanfdu muttered as explosions filled the air, and then fire swallowed Lord Komanfdu up.
The TARDIS shook violently and all the passengers were thrown across the room. The biggest court in the Galaxy was gone, never to be rebuilt. The TARDIS flew through the rubble, and then dematerialised.
“Back to ICE,” the Doctor said as he pulled a lever. The TARDIS landed in the place where it had landed originally.
“That was a shocking experience,” Ryoff said, “You’re ship is bigger on the inside.”
“Much bigger,” Ikorg added.
“I’d already seen it,” Roiralt said smiling.
“I guess this is goodbye then,” Kaylie said.
“Goodbye everyone,” Zac said, “I’m sorry I never got to know any of you, I still don’t know what happened myself, but nice to see you again Ikorg, and I’m glad we could understand each other this time.”
“You had your memories removed, remember?” Conner replied.
“Well bye everyone,” Georgia said waving, before she returned into the TARDIS, followed by Zac.
“Bye Roiralt, and Ryoff,” Conner said shaking their hands, “And Ikorg of course.”
“I didn’t know humans shook hands,” Roiralt said happily, as Conner returned to the TARDIS. Kaylie ran up to Ikorg and hugged him.
“I’m glad that I met you all,” Kaylie said, “But I can hardly say that I’ve had a great time, I don’t think I’ll want to go on any more of these adventures.”
“That’s alright Kaylie,” the Doctor replied.
“Doctor, about my machine,” Roiralt began.
“I’m really sorry about that,” the Doctor replied, “I’m sure you’ll be able to build it again.”
“I don’t think I’ll be able to cope without Angilkar though,” Roiralt replied, “And Xelionth, two of my best friends.”
“You’ve still got Ikorg here,” the Doctor replied, “And Ryoff of course, but I am very sorry for your loss.”
“It’s not your fault,” Roiralt said shaking his head, “It’s Lord Komanfdu’s, but he’s paid his price now.”
“Goodbye Doctor,” Ryoff said, “You will always be remembered in our files, as a saviour. Goodbye Kaylie, I’m sure everyone will be very proud of what you have done today.”
“You saved my life, and you saved me from that cell,” Ikorg exclaimed, and he and Kaylie hugged again, “But will we ever meet again?” Kaylie opened her mouth then closed it, with a sad look on her face.
“I don’t think so,” Kaylie answered, “But if you ever come to Earth again, pop in and see me!”
“Goodbye,” Ikorg said.
“Good luck all of you,” the Doctor said, and he and Kaylie walked back inside the TARDIS, which dematerialised in front of the remaining Plutonians.
“Wow,” Roiralt commented, “Come on everyone, by the look of it, there’s a lot of fixing to do.”Roiralt, Ryoff and Ikorg walked away, through the damaged city, as the TARDIS flew towards Earth.
“Doctor, what will happen to the Plutonians and Sednians?” Georgia asked.
“Does Ikorg become famous?” Kaylie asked.
“I’m sorry Kaylie, I don’t know whether Ikorg becomes famous,” the Doctor replied, “But I do know that the Plutonians will have a long peaceful existence, except for a war with Sedna in the far future.”
“Who wins?” Zac asked.
“Pluto, with a little help from Earth,” the Doctor answered, “Some Sednians escaped in a spaceship, it’s not known what happened to them.”
Beth Grant was sleeping in a chair, in the school art room, it was dark outside, school had finished, and she had waited for the TARDIS. Mrs Sow was also waiting in her office, she had decided to let Beth stay and wait, but decided it best not to leave her on her own, especially once she fell asleep. There was a strange noise and Beth awoke with a start, she saw the TARDIS materialising in front of her and smiled widely as Kaylie stepped out, followed closely by Zac.
“You alright Beth?” Zac asked, as Kaylie hugged Beth.
“Yeah I’m fine, I’ve been waiting for ages,” Beth replied.
“Well we’ve got loads to tell you,” Kaylie replied.
“Where are the others?” Beth asked, “Are they alright?”
“We’re fine Beth, thanks,” Conner said as he exited the TARDIS with Georgia and the Doctor.
“So what happened?” Beth asked, “Tell me everything!”
“That may take a long time,” the Doctor told her, “We’d best be off.”
“Oh but Doctor...” Conner began then stopped.
“Thank you Doctor, for letting me experience that adventure,” Kaylie said to the Doctor, “I think I’d rather stay on Earth, though. I mean I know you were going to say ‘But Kaylie you could come with us’ but it is ok, I don’t want to go.” Kaylie turned from the Doctor, who was left standing rather speechless.
“Bye then, don’t be gone for too long,” Zac told the Doctor.
“Kaylie, seriously you were brilliant,” the Doctor said, “She saved the whole planet, all on her own.”
“Seriously!” Beth exclaimed, “That is like HUGE!”
“Well done Kaylie,” Zac said and he and Kaylie kissed, Beth looked rather embarrassed, as the Doctor and the others waved before heading back into the TARDIS. The sound of the TARDIS dematerialising filled the room and Kaylie and Zac stopped kissing, and smiled.
“I’m so glad you didn’t loose all your memories,” Kaylie told Zac smiling, as Mrs Sow ran into the room.
“Oh, they’re back, where’s the Doctor?” Mrs Sow asked.
“They’ve gone again,” Beth replied, “But it sounds like they saved another world. Zac and Kaylie smiled again as they followed Beth and Mrs Sow out of the school, telling them all about their adventure as they did so.
NEXT TIME
"Takashi, is that you? Stop messing around!”
“Conner, what flavour soup is this exactly?” Georgia asked.
“The TARDIS is taking us to Japan!” the Doctor cried.
“Get me a coffee, or you’re fired,” Naoki growled.
“I want you to put a bullet in the Doctor,” Petr said.
“Run!” Petr cried. “RUN!”
"Konnichiwa!"
THE END
