Episode 9: Snowfall in the City Part 4

“What was that noise?” Georgia asked, standing up.
“It sounded like a gun shot,” Ikorg squeaked.
“The Sednians have found us,” Zac hissed, “How can we get out?”
“I can get us out via another exit,” Ikorg replied, as he rushed to the other door in the laboratory, put his hand on the handle and the door swung open. Ikorg, Georgia and Zac ran through it, as they saw Aikl run into the laboratory.

“Ikorg, Xelionth told me to get you, all of you, out,” Aikl said when he saw them, “The Sednians are coming.”
“Xelionth told you everything?” Ikorg asked.
“Everything,” Aikl replied, “Now quick follow me.”
“But he wouldn’t tell you anything,” Ikorg said, “He doesn’t trust you.”
“Well obviously he does,” Aikl said, “Look I don’t have time for this, Komanfdu needs… I mean Komanfdu has found out about everything.”
“I can’t believe you, the risk is too much,” Ikorg replied, as Aikl raised his gun.
“I can’t let you go!” Aikl said loudly. Ikorg grabbed the handle of the lab door and it closed with a bang. Aikl hammered on the door as he tried to open it. Georgia could see Aikl’s angry face through the window in the door.

“Come on we need to get out of here!” Georgia said, as she began to lead them through the room they were now in, towards a door on the opposite side.
“Is there a way to lock Aikl in that area?” Zac asked Ikorg.
“We’d have to go round to the other door and lock it, but by then he’ll have got out ages ago,” Ikorg replied. Suddenly, several Plutonian soldiers burst through the door and pointed their guns at Georgia, Zac and Ikorg. Georgia turned and saw Aikl was still at the window, smiling.

“I think he wants you to open the door,” Georgia told Ikorg, as she saw Aikl pointing at the door handle. Ikorg walked up to the door and pulled it open.
“Genetic locking system,” Aikl said, “Very clever. Take them.”
“Hey! These guards don’t follow your orders; they’re under Xelionth’s command,” Ikorg squeaked.
“Xelionth’s dead, so I’m in charge,” Aikl replied and the Guards grabbed Georgia, Zac and Ikorg.

“You said you were going to help us get away,” Georgia shrieked, as she struggled.
“Actually I said I was going to get you out of here,” Aikl said, “Which I’m doing now, take Ikorg to Sedna and take those two to the erasing office.”
“What does erasing office mean?” Georgia asked, “Excuse me? Let go!”
“I think they’re going to wipe our memories,” Zac replied as he was dragged away with Georgia.

The Biggest court in the Galaxy, hidden from primitive eyes with a rather simple cloaking device, revolved like a planet. It was owned by the Plutonian-Sednian alliance and it was always exactly between Pluto and Sedna, however far apart or close the planets were. It was linked to the planets with a teleport system, which was easily accessible to those with high authority. Any court case or meeting was held at the court rooms. Inside the court were hundreds of court rooms, some of them were literally huge. There were also labs, bedrooms, homes for those who worked in the court, offices and many other rooms with different functions.

“SILENCE! SILENCE FOR THE LORD PLUTON!” a Plutonian shouted as always, whenever a court case began and the court fell silent.
“Today we have a serious problem,” Pluton said in a deep voice, his voice seemed to come from every direction.
“Why does his voice sound… like… everywhere?” Kaylie asked.
“There’s a speaker system, he’s speaking into a tiny microphone,” Angilkar replied.

“We have humans in our midst,” Pluton continued, and he pointed down at the Doctor, Conner and Kaylie.
“Well 2 humans and a non-human,” the Doctor said, his voice also seemed to be coming out of a speaker system.
“SILENCE!” Roiralt shouted.
“He does not know the laws of the court my lord,” Ryoff said, but few heard him, “Where’s my microphone?”
“You really should take more care of your possessions,” the Doctor replied, pointing at the tiny black device attached to his shirt.
“Give it back!” Ryoff snapped.
“Do you know what I am?” the Doctor asked the court, smiling. There were Plutonians and Sednians calling for order all around them.
“Tell the thing to be silent!” Sednaki roared from his lounge. Other people were shouting now, Kaylie heard Lord Komanfdu’s voice saying ‘Lock him up!’

“I’m a Time Lord,” the Doctor said, and the whole court fell silent. Sednaki Sednaki looked very shocked and Ryoff Clamadoff staggered backwards and had to sit down. Roiralt and Angilkar began to whisper frantically to each other and many other aliens followed suit. The whispering voices sounded like leaves rustling along the ground.
“A Time Lord you say?” Sednaki asked.
“Heard of me then?” the Doctor replied.
“What is your name?” Pluton asked, “We have files on a certain Time Lord.”
“So do we,” a Plague Carrier exclaimed, as a second Plague Carrier passed him a couple of papers.
“We do too,” Sednaki’s second in command, who was simply called S, added.

“Three guesses which Time Lord,” Conner told Kaylie.
“I don’t know which?” Kaylie replied confused.
“The Doctor of course,” Conner replied in an exasperated voice.

“I’m the Doctor,” the Doctor said and many of the aliens gasped.
“I knew I’d heard his name before,” Roiralt muttered, then asked Ryoff, “Who is he?”
“But I don’t understand, I’ve never come across Sednians or Plutonians before,” the Doctor said, “I knew they existed but...”
“They never said that we’ve come across you before, but that you are in our records,” Ryoff replied as Pluton stood up.

“We have many allies and friends from across the galaxy, and many have mentioned the Doctor,” Pluton announced, “Some mention that he fought in the last great time war.”
“We have records that he is the only survivor of the Time War,” Sednaki added, as he stood up.
“He is a killer, I think he should be restrained,” Lord Komanfdu said from his balcony, as two guards came in with Georgia and Zac. They had been gagged and their hands bound.
“He is no killer,” the leader of the Plague Carriers said, “He saved the Plague Carriers in the deep past.”
“The Plague Carriers gave me the plague,” Conner said loudly, so he could be heard, even though nobody was talking or whispering.
“Silence!” Ryoff snapped, “You do not have permission to speak!”
“But the Doctor saved me and he managed to send the Plague Carriers home,” Conner explained, “He’s saved hundreds of lives, so there is no need to...”
“Restrain him!” Lord Komanfdu roared, “He has not been sworn in.” Many of the aliens began to shout similar things.
“Neither has that Doctor,” Pluton replied, “I say we hear him speak.”
“You are supposed to follow the laws of the court!” Lord Komanfdu said angrily.
“I suppose we should restrain the human,” Sednaki agreed.
“Do it then,” Pluton said and two guards grabbed Conner from behind.

“Hey, stop it! He’s my friend let him go,” the Doctor ordered.
“Yeah let Conner go,” Kaylie cried.
“I’d be quiet or you’ll be taken away too,” Roiralt said to Kaylie.
“Where are they taking him?” the Doctor asked Ryoff.
“To the cells,” Ryoff answered, “He’ll be fine.”

“That is so mean,” Kaylie muttered to Angilkar.
“I have to agree on this occasion,” Angilkar replied, “Sometimes keeping the talking to a minimum number of people can be good, but when people have important things to say, I think they should be allowed to say it.”
“He should’ve been told to just shut up, not get dragged off,” Kaylie said, “I mean that Lord Komandafuey person doesn’t have much important to say and nobody tells him to shut up.”
“He gained his power, he introduced new rules that a lot of people liked,” Angilkar explained, “Now he uses his power to get his own way.”
“Git,” Kaylie said bluntly.

“Where’s my TARDIS?” the Doctor asked the Court.
“It’s on Sedna,” Sednaki asked.
“Actually, it’s been transferred,” Pluton said.
“WHAT?” Lord Komanfdu shouted, as Roiralt and Angilkar smiled widely at his displeasure.
“It’s a good thing you got onto Pluton quickly,” Roiralt told Angilkar.
“It was on your orders,” Angilkar replied.
“It was found on Plutonian soil, as were the humans,” Pluton told Komanfdu, “According to one of the rules you created, it belongs to us.”
“Actually it belongs to me,” the Doctor said, “But as long as it’s kept safe for now...”
“It should belong to me!” Lord Komanfdu roared.
“How should it belong to you?” Ryoff asked.

“I think we really should get back on topic,” Sednaki said in a bored voice, “What should be done about the humans and the Doctor.”
“They should be locked up!” Lord Komanfdu shouted, “None of them are trustworthy!”
“One of them spoke without the court’s permission, that hardly means they are untrustworthy,” Pluton replied.
“And may I point out that I have saved lives before,” the Doctor added smiling.
“Ah but you Doctor, have lied,” Lord Komanfdu said, “There are two other humans that came to Pluto with you, I have them here.”
“Nobody asked me whether these were all the humans I took here,” the Doctor replied.

“These two humans were found in the city of ICE,” Lord Komanfdu told the court, there were few whispering now, “They were found in a high security area, where my guards found a strange machine and a small dead Plutonian. If only I knew what the machine did, none of my scientists know what it is, and the humans didn’t murder the Plutonian either, another Plutonian did. We think it was a Plutonian known as Xelionth.”
“DONT BELIEVE HIM!” Georgia shouted, she had managed to pull her gag off, “The little alien is still alive! They’ve sent him to Sedna! And one of Komanfdu’s operatives killed Xelionth! Don’t...” Two of Komanfdu’s guards grabbed her and dragged her off with Zac. Many of the aliens watching began to shout ‘Silence her!’ or ‘Let her speak!’

“ZAC! GEORGIA!” Kaylie shouted, “Doctor they’ve been captured too! Let them go!”

“This court is dismissed, for now,” Pluton ordered.
“We should convene in half an hour,” Sednaki added, as Pluton nodded. The balconies began to fade as the walls and ceilings of the square rooms, that had became the balconies, reappeared.

“Doctor, what are we going to do?” Kaylie asked.
“We’re going to break into Lord Komanfdu’s offices,” the Doctor replied.
“Doctor, stay here please,” Ryoff said, “We’re going to see Pluton. Come on you two.”
“Coming sir,” Angilkar said, as she picked up several papers from the ground, “Bye Kaylie.”
“Bye,” Kaylie replied, as Roiralt followed Angilkar and Ryoff out of the room.

“Come on Kaylie, Komanfdu’s offices are on the floor above,” the Doctor told Kaylie.
“Will we find Georgia and Zac up there?” Kaylie asked.
“I doubt it,” the Doctor replied simply, “But don’t worry we’ll find them and we’ll free them, now come on.”

Conner had been sitting in a dark dusty cell with nobody to talk to when Georgia and Zac were forced through the door by four guards, Georgia seemed to be shouting at them, but she smiled when she saw Conner.
“Georgia, Zac, you’re both fine,” Conner said as they were forced into the same cell as him.
“Hang on,” Georgia said, turning to the guards, “And that goes the same for all of you! Right what were you saying Conner?”
“I was saying I’m glad you’re ok,” Conner replied, as the Guards left.
“I’m glad you’re ok too,” Georgia said smiling.
“Does anyone know where we are?” Zac asked.
“The biggest court in the galaxy,” Conner answered.
“They didn’t tell us, they said they were going to get our memory erased,” Zac replied.

“Don’t think I’ve ruled it out,” Lord Komanfdu snarled, as he walked up to the cell, flanked by two armed Sednian guards.
“You go away you big meanie!” Georgia said angrily, “Leave us alone.”
“They are feisty,” Lord Komanfdu said leering, “Now let’s make a deal.”
“Yeah, lets make a deal with the untrustworthy git,” Conner said sarcastically.
“He’s right there you know,” Zac muttered to Conner.
“If you say nothing about Ikorg and Aikl and Xelionth, then I won’t kill you,” Lord Komanfdu told them, “If you do I’ll erase your memories and probably kill you, starting with the feisty one.”
“No deal,” Conner said.
“And I am not feisty,” Georgia moaned.
“No deal, fine, I’ll take you to the memory chambers,” Lord Komanfdu said.
“Yes deal!” Zac snapped, “You two don’t want to loose your memories do you?”
“I suppose not,” Conner replied.

“Well that’s settled then,” Lord Komanfdu said friendlily, “Now I’ll just leave you in the cells for now, I’m sure you’ll be free later, if you’re good. I’m off to see Sednaki now.”
“Who?” Zac asked.
“Leader of the Sednians,” Conner answered knowingly, as Komanfdu marched away.

The Doctor ran up a corridor and up a flight of stairs, he was followed closely by Kaylie, who seemed to be finding it hard to keep up.
“Doctor, why isn’t there anybody about?” Kaylie asked.
“They aren’t allowed up here,” the Doctor replied, “Now quiet a minute.” The Doctor ran down a corridor until he reached a corner, he beckoned to Kaylie and they looked round the corner.

“It’s Xelionth’s friend,” Kaylie whispered.
“Doesn’t look like much of a friend to me,” the Doctor replied, “He’s guarding Lord Komanfdu’s chambers. Just follow my lead.” The Doctor and Kaylie turned the corner and walked down the corridor towards Aikl. When Aikl saw them he pointed his gun at them.

“It’s alright,” the Doctor said, “I have full authorisation to be here.”
“You’re that Doctor, and you’re one of the humans,” Aikl replied, “Stay back!”
“I may be ‘that Doctor’ as you put it, but I still have full authorisation,” the Doctor replied, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his psychic paper.
“I don’t believe you,” Aikl snarled.
“Here’s the proof, high security pass,” the Doctor said, holding up the psychic paper to Aikl, who stared blankly at it, “You’ll find Pluton’s and Sednaki’s signatures on it.”
“There’s no point in you going in there though,” Aikl said, as the Doctor began to pass him, “Lord Komanfdu has an appointment with Sednaki. Plus, Lord Komanfdu needs to give you permission to see his private chambers.”
“I have Pluton and Sednaki’s authority, no permission needed,” the Doctor replied, walking past Aikl and into Komanfdu’s chambers, followed closely by Kaylie.
“But...” Aikl began.
“Now, you stay here and guard,” the Doctor told Aikl, “There’s a good Plutonian.” The Doctor closed the door to Komanfdu’s chambers leaving Aikl looking slightly confused.

“Come on Kaylie, we have to find Komanfdu’s office,” the Doctor told her.
“Is that it over there,” Kaylie asked, pointing to a door with Office written on it.
“Ah, yes,” the Doctor said, as he began to walk towards the door, nearly tripping on a broken floorboard as he did so.

“It’s weird that everything’s written in English, but also pretty good for us,” Kaylie said smiling.
“It’s the TARDIS translation circuits,” the Doctor replied.
“Yes, I know,” Kaylie snapped, as they entered the office and began to search it, “What exactly are we looking for?”
“Some plans of some sort,” the Doctor replied, “Some kind of building or construction plans.” The Doctor opened the desk in the office and picked up the piece of paper on top.

“What’s that?” Kaylie asked.
“It’s a plan for some kind for a sphere shaped machine,” the Doctor said, “And there’s one beneath it too.” The Doctor picked up the second sheet and Kaylie gazed her eyes over them.
“They look the same,” Kaylie commented.
“That’s because they’re meant to look the same,” the Doctor replied, “But this plan here has been tampered with.”
“What’s it meant to be?” Kaylie asked.

“This one,” the Doctor said holding up the first sheet, “Is a long distance particle transporter, which is basically a teleport. I’m guessing that’s how the Plutonians sent the alien to Earth.”
“And the other one?” Kaylie asked.
“It’s a long distance particle transporter,” the Doctor answered, “But it’s been combined with an atmosphere converter. This is what’s making it snow on Pluto.”
“So the snow is there on purpose,” Kaylie said, “But where is this machine?”
“It’s in ICE,” the Doctor replied, “That Plutonian city, oh of course!”
“What is it?” Kaylie asked.

“Roiralt and Angilkar invented this machine, but Lord Komanfdu somehow swapped the plans, so the atmosphere converter gets built instead,” the Doctor explained, more to himself than to Kaylie, “The plans are so similar, only a genius would be able to tell the difference, and I suspect Roiralt and Angilkar will have got builders to build this anyway. And if the machine is found out to be an atmosphere converter then Roiralt will get the blame and not Komanfdu, which could be very serious as this machine could kill many people. We need to show these to someone.” Kaylie nodded, but froze as she heard voices.

“Sir, that Doctor and a human are in your chambers,” Aikl told Lord Komanfdu as he approached.
“WHAT? WHY DID YOU LET THEM IN?” Lord Komanfdu roared.
“They had high security access sir, signed by Pluton and Sednaki themselves,” Aikl replied, “They had a paper to prove it and...” Lord Komanfdu pushed past Aikl into his chambers to find the Doctor and Kaylie standing on a broken metal floorboard in the centre of the room.

“Hello,” the Doctor said smiling, he waved the papers at Komanfdu.
“You little...” Komanfdu began.
“Sorry, no time for chit chat,” the Doctor replied, “One question though, Ikorg the little alien you’ve sent to Sedna, was he the one Roiralt and Angilkar sent to Earth?”
“What?” Komanfdu roared, “Well... yes, but you listen here, the Plutonians are...” The Doctor waved goodbye and pointed his sonic screwdriver at the broken floorboard he and Kaylie were standing on, it snapped and they fell to the floor below.

“You could have warned me,” Kaylie said as she stood up coughing. The Doctor was already on his feet.
“Come on Kaylie, I have a big job for you,” the Doctor said, grabbing Kaylie’s hand and leading her away from the place they had landed.

“Get down after him!” Lord Komanfdu told Aikl, “You’ll be lucky if I don’t send you to prison for this!”
“Sorry sir, yes sir,” Aikl replied, as he jumped through the hole where the Doctor and Kaylie had vanished, he was followed closely by two guards.

Ryoff, Roiralt and Angilkar, meanwhile, had gone to see Pluton. Pluton was sitting in a large lounge, on a huge squishy seat. Pluton was an extremely large Pluton, but he was also very intelligent.
“Sir, we fear that Lord Komanfdu knows about our teleport experiments,” Roiralt told Pluton.
“We don’t know what to do!” Angilkar cried.
“We shall have to reveal to the court first,” Pluton replied.
“And also, according to Lord Komanfdu our little friend who we sent to Earth has been killed,” Roiralt explained, “By none other than our very own Xelionth.”

“I wouldn’t believe a single thing that Lord Komanfdu says,” Ryoff replied, “He seems to lie every few seconds.”
“Well he’s a good liar,” Pluton said.
“One of the humans said that Komanfdu sent Ikorg to Sedna, and that one of Komanfdu’s friends killed Xelionth,” Ryoff explained, “I think we should take these sources into account.”
“So we are to believe a human over a Sednian,” Pluton asked.

“I hate the Sednians,” Angilkar muttered.
“Angilkar!” Roiralt said through gritted teeth.
“Well I hate the alliance at least,” Angilkar replied, and then she turned to Pluton, “And I’ve heard you say yourself, that you’d rather you’re predecessor’s predecessor never started the alliance. We have to tell the Sednians every little thing we do and discuss it, which takes ages.”
“That is the very reason, which you full well know,” Pluton explained, “That I let you do your experiments, without consulting the Sednians."

“I think we need to send someone back to Pluto,” Roiralt said, “Somebody to make sure the areas locked and that the machine is switched off. Somebody needs to hide all our plans, just in case.”
“I agree,” Ryoff said.
“So do I,” Pluton announced.
“I’ll do it,” Angilkar volunteered.
“Good girl,” Pluton said to her.
“Quickly, Angilkar and good luck,” Roiralt said.
“Yes sir,” Angilkar replied, as she left the room hurriedly.

The Doctor and Kaylie raced down a corridor and a flight of stairs, the Doctor telling Kaylie his plans all the way. They reached the corridor, where Ryoff’s balcony was off and they saw that many people were making their way back to the balconies.

“Where are we going?” Kaylie asked.
“The teleport,” the Doctor replied, as they continued up the corridor. There was a banging noise and Aikl appeared at the other end of the corridor, followed closely by two guards, and not far behind them Lord Komanfdu himself. The Doctor hastily opened the door and closed it behind Kaylie.

“Doctor, I can’t do this!” Kaylie shrieked, “Why can’t Conner or Georgia?”
“I wouldn’t ask if you couldn’t Kaylie,” the Doctor told her, “And Conner and the others aren’t here, I have no idea where they are. Good luck.”
“I don’t want to Doctor please!” Kaylie pleaded, but the Doctor pointed his sonic screwdriver at the teleport room and Kaylie vanished, just as Aikl reached the Doctor.

“Follow her!” Lord Komanfdu roared as he reached Aikl and the Doctor, who were glaring at each other.
“Ah, thought you might try that,” the Doctor said, as he pointed his sonic screwdriver at the teleport controls and sparks emitted from them.
“What have you done?” Lord Komanfdu said angrily.
“Wiped the teleport’s memory, and broken it,” the Doctor replied, “You can’t follow her.”
“You’re for it now Doctor!” Lord Komanfdu replied, “Guards KILL HIM!” The guards pointed their guns at the Doctor, leaving him helpless.

Kaylie appeared with a jolt in another teleport room, far away from the high courts. She opened the door to the room and stepped out into a busy Sednian street. The street was inside and there were Sednians walking in every direction, none of them seemed to notice her.

“Excuse me,” Kaylie said to a Sednian woman, who was passing.
“Oh hello, what alien are you then?” the Sednian woman asked, “I’m Shillica by the way, nice to meet you.”
“I’m from the planet, Blish Blosh,” Kaylie said, “Where are we?”
“We’re on the planet Sedna right now love,” Shillica replied, smiling sweetly, “I’d better be off, I’m off to the library. I think I’ll borrow a book on planets, I’ve never heard of Blish Blosh, anyway nice to meet you.” Kaylie looked around; there was not a familiar thing in sight.

“Doctor!” Kaylie shouted, “Why did you send me here? You were sending me to ICE! Not here! Why Doctor? Why am I here? What am I supposed to do? How do I get back? DOCTOR!”
