Episode 9: Game Over Part 4
Conner falls off of the platform, into the darkness. He lands on a lower platform, which moves along like a conveyor belt. Along the path there are smashing blocks and thudding axes, ready to crush Conner.
“Conner!” Georgia screamed.
“Uh oh!” Conner cried.
First of all, there are some blocks on sticks. Conner realises one is coming down on him, and runs to the other side of the constantly moving belt. Then there are thudding axes, which Conner dodges. Then comes the swinging axes. Conner runs through a couple, but then drops to the floor, so they go over his head. All this time, Georgia, Zac and Kaylie are leaping from platform to platform to keep up with him. Then a large axe thuds into the ground, so Conner leaps up, and tries to pull it out of the ground. He manages it, just before a squashing concrete block is hammering down in front of him. He runs through the gap where the concrete block is about to fall, but he trips over. It looks like he is dead, but he shoves the axe in the air, so at the bottom it is touching the floor, and the top it is holding the concrete block. Conner crawls out, and lands down on a platform. The axe is crushed.
“You lot, I can’t get up to your platform, go on without me,” Conner shouted up to them.
“You go,” Georgia said, turning to Zac and Kaylie “I’ll stay. You’ve got more lives. If it gets more dangerous, I might not survive.”
She drops down on to Conner’s platform. Zac and Kaylie run into Level 7. Georgia and Conner are left alone in Level 6.
“And now we wait,” Georgia said.
“For the Doctor?” Conner asked.
“For something interesting to happen,” Georgia corrected.
They hear a grate of metal from the other side of the platform. They turn around slowly. It looks like something interesting has arrived.
The Doctor and Harry are in the control room. Dorris and Lisa appear on one of the screens. The Doctor stands up.
“Where does Bulba keep all his stuff?” the Doctor asked.
“What stuff? Pens?” Harry asked.
“Pens?” the Doctor asked. “No, computers, wires and stuff.”
“In the cupboard Big D,” Harry informed.
“Right. He must have some serious technology behind the Game,” the Doctor said “and we can use that, along with the two ladies on screen 6, to test it out. They’re going back home!”
“If he did,” Harry countered “wouldn’t he just stop the Game? He said it was his dad’s.”
“And you actually believe that?” the Doctor asked, surprised.
“Yes Doctor, I do.”
“Ha! You called me Doctor!” the Doctor grinned. “Allons-y then, let’s get to work! Hang on, isn’t that Dorris?”
Zac and Kaylie walk into Level 7. Level 7 is a massive jungle. Zac walks forward. Nothing happens. Kaylie follows him. Then they hear a zzzzz-ing noise. Then a giant Fly flies down, and hovers in the air. It appears to have a sting!
“Run!” Kaylie screamed.
The two friends run forwards with the Fly following them angrily. It stings the ground, right where Kaylie used to be, seconds before. The ground explodes where it was stung.
“Out of the way Zac!” Kaylie cried, running as fast as she can.
Zac leaps sideways, and the sting just misses him. Again, the ground explodes. As Kaylie runs, she picks up a branch and drags it along the ground, not daring to stop. When the wasp zooms down to attack, she swings around whacks it out of the sky.
“Come on, keep running!” Kaylie shouted.
They eventually reach a glowing door. On it, it says ‘Level 8. The last Level, of Virtual Reality.’
“We’ve done it!” Zac smiled.
And he opens the door.
Conner and Georgia step backwards. Several Robots step up onto the platform.
“+Life forms detected+,” the first Robot informed.
“+Scanning now+,” the second Robot added.
The Robot makes a blue light pass up and down Georgia, then Conner.
“+They are rogue elements+,” the third Robot said, viewing the results of the scan.
“+Stray gamers+!” the fourth Robot said “+stray gamers must be destroyed+.”
“+Robots advance+,” the fifth Robot ordered. “+Take them, dead or alive+.”
Conner and Georgia step backwards, to the edge of the platform. Nothing is below, except darkness. The Robots continue advancing. They won’t stop, until they get their prey.
To be continued…
